Introduction:

The Relief IndiaTrust has been working in the Indian society for quite a number of years for its betterment. Despite, its excellent effort and top repute, the need is still there to have more such NGOs due to the ever growing scale of the social issues. The government due to immense population also seeks the support of NGOs to make the society a better place to live in. They couldn’t manage to cope with the pressure because of their limited resources. It is important for the upcoming NGOs and the volunteers to know about some facts about them. The Relief India Trust believes that learning about the facts of any NGO is important as it help others to know about all its dynamics. Further, it also helps in raising global awareness and provides a link between different NGOs to participate and work collectively towards a noble cause without any discrimination of region, ethnicity, cast or creed. NGOs can be of a number of different types.

The general facts about NGOs:

There were a lot of myths about NGOs, but the Relief India Trust took this opportunity to bust all those myths and come up with some true and genuine facts. The following is a list of some of the basic and general facts related with the NGOs:

·         An NGO can either be a group of specialized people, which is restricted primarily for the scientific or other professional members. The International Council for Scientific Unions (ICSU) is an example of such NGO.

·         Some NGOs working nationally or internationally are dedicated for the collection of information and research. The example of such NGO is the International Institute for Environment and Development.
·         There are some activist NGOs which are devoted for the support of wildlife, environment and in the conservation of resources with an open membership for all.

·         The maximum numbers of NGOs today are working in different social sectors for the benefit of the people living in the society.

·         All the NGOs have almost the same initial structure where they are required to come up with founding members to form a board of governor for its legal existence with as minimum as 7 members. They usually work voluntarily with no monetary benefits.

·         The NGOs do consist of some individual or group volunteers who are genuinely interested in helping the deprived people or maybe contribute towards the environment and wildlife.

·         Funding is critical for any NGO as their operations are solely dependent on them. The NGOs in this regard have to go all out towards all the potential resources in order to generate funds.

·         The best way to utilize the maximum of your volunteer resources is to make them work for the generation of funds. They can raise funds by organizing different fund raising campaigns at different levels which wouldn’t only generate funds, but will also raise awareness among the general public in the society.
