Relief India Trust - Helping Abandoned Children

Children are the most innocent of god’s creation and so it is very important that they are taken care of. We at Relief India Trust work at making things better for these children. This is very important that we do. The children are our future and so what we do for them works in the long run to help them get better. We need to do everything we can to help them get on their feet and to help them survive. This is why the job of our volunteers is a full time and long term. This is not for a short term stint.

It is our job to keep the children safe however what if we are not on time? This is a question that is on the minds of all of our volunteers at all times. But they do the best that they can in whatever limited resources that they have. I am not trying to say that we are doing everything, what I am saying is we are doing as much as we can do given the fact that we do not have unlimited resources and funds. The state is such that we have more and more cases and we are dealing with all of it as well as we can.

The biggest challenge is the abandoned children that we see. The worst part is the majority of them are girls. The concept is simple, people want a baby boy so any girls that are born in the process, they are abandoned. In one sense, we at the Relief India Trust believe that the ones who are abandoned are the lucky ones, the rest are actually just killed and their bodies will be found if lucky the rest may never know what needs to be done.

At the Relief India Trust, an abandoned child has to be fed, clothed and also checked for health. This is the reason why the abandoned children need as much support as possible. The kids are brought and medically examined and then clothed and housed. Most of them are very young and so they need to get into our home care facilities. The younger kids need full time care, it needs volunteers to work round the clock. The people who are working with the kids are dedicated and some of them even stay with us so that they can help with the kids round the clock.

Abandoned children are a tough task. Our staff is trained as much as possible with the latest techniques to help raise the kids. The kids are taken care of fully till they are in school, after which they are moved out to a different housing. We of course encourage adoption. However, it becomes more and more difficult as most of them are girls and the adoption is very less. The people who are involved with the kids are undeterred by any challenges that they face. They face everything thrown at them in the form of uncertainties to help the children. This is a commendable work that our team of volunteers tackle successfully.
