Children are the most innocent of god’s creation and so it
is very important that they are taken care of. We, at Relief India Trust work at making things better for these children.
This is very important that we do. Our children are our future. It's our
responsibility to give them the love and care that they deserve. Unfortunately, there are so many children who
are abandoned by their own parents. The majority of such cases are girls as its
Indian mindset to prefer male child. So the female child has to face
abandonment or the worst they get killed in the womb of their mother. This is
where our volunteers work. First, we try to spread awareness about female
infanticide and secondly, our volunteers work day and night to take good care
of the abandoned children.
This is where the work becomes very difficult. Taking care
of child sex workers is something which is the most challenging of all the
work. These children were discovered when the police raided different brothels.
This was of course a shocking discovery. But the truth is that the number of
children that we’ve recovered are far less than who are actually being treated
this way. This is a tough job and we know there are kids out there who are
still to be found, but what we do is our best with the children who have been
discovered, and help them get back into a normal life. It is a long journey,
but it has to be started soon.
The children who come to us after being exposed to the world
of bad for a long time, they have lost all their self-worth. They have seen the
horrors of life. There is no way that they would be able to forget that. The
journey starts very tough. Most of them don’t want to be rescued as the life
they were rescued from is the only life that they remember. The journey of
recovery starts by showing them that what they have gone through is over now
and they need to move forward. After this we show them what life they still can
have. A child psychologist is always with us to help these children.
Many of these children are very young and so the scars can
be erased very well, but it needs a lot of psychological help. This is the
major help. What we at the Relief IndiaTrust start with is the physical help. The children need physical help at
first. The doctors who volunteer with us take care of that. The children are
tested for any kind of diseases and illness, after that they are looked after
by the doctors for a few days. Till the time the doctors deem the children fit,
they will take care of them. After that is when the psychological
help is
provided.
We at Relief IndiaTrust understand that this is a long process and that we need to give as
much time as possible to get these kids back on their feet. It is not always an
easy task. The challenges are many but the volunteers stick along and do
whatever possible to get these children on their feet. Whoever has more
