Introduction:
Resource mobilization is a normal term that you hear with
the NGOs. This term is specifically used in fundraising campaigns or anything
related with funding. It is a technical term which just means mobilizing the
resources. It is an important concept in the NGOs and can be their driving
force in their fundraising campaigns. The resources today for the NGOs like the
Relief India Trust include a lot of
other things as well rather than just money. Other than money, the NGOs may
also raise some support from the volunteers who can be the most important asset
of any NGO. The support can also be in
the form of material which sometimes can be more valuable than having the
funds. Further, the community itself sometimes comes up with great contribution
other than the money which can be extremely beneficial for the NGO to easily
manage their relief operations and the social welfare projects implemented in
the community. Therefore, in order to get all the support in different forms
into the kitty of the NGOs, it is collectively referred as Resource
Mobilization. It is a term which is very richly inculcated in the Relief India Trust NGO and is a major
thing to consider during the planning of their all projects which will be
implemented in the future and also the current projects which are already
making an impression in the community where they are already implemented.
An in-depth look into
resource mobilization:
Resource mobilization can actually be called a kind of
process for paving the means for different types of support for the help of the
NGOs. It can include cash and other type of material or human resources. In
order to get a better insight into the understanding of the resource
mobilization phenomenon and the associated activities, the Relief India Trust breaks it into the following parts:
·
Proposal writing and proposal submission to any
individual donor or an aid agency is the most conventional method of attaining
some support.
·
The organization or setting up the different
fundraising campaigns or events where the guests are invited and the requests
are made for raising donations for your NGO.
·
There can be a type of resource mobilization
where you place different donation boxes in different public centers where the
general public contributes usually with a small amount of money. If the
donation boxes are ideally placed in public places such as shopping malls,
hospitals, parks and other public gathering points, then this can sum up into a
very lucrative amount in a fairly quick amount of time.
·
The collection of in-kind contribution from the
public is also a part of this phenomenon. The in-kind contribution from the
public can include used clothes, shoes, books, furniture and a number of other
similar things which can be used by underprivileged people who don’t even have
such things.
·
Then, it is also the income that the NGOs
generate through their business nature social welfare projects.
