The Organizational Issues of Relief India Trust

Introduction:

The Relief IndiaTrust from a distance looks a very successful and a top NGO who is doing a great job for the welfare of the people and the overall society. There is no doubt about the success of the Relief India Trust, but at the same time, they have a number of organizational challenges which are transparent to the general public and the funders of the organization. The management and the administration of the NGO have to deal with a number of issues on a day to day basis in order to facilitate the people in the society for whom they are working hard day and night.

The Organizational Issues:

The following is a list of some of the top and main organizational issues faced by the ReliefIndia Trust and many other NGOs who are working in the same capacity for the welfare of the society:
·         Managing the organizational budget is a very difficult thing for such NGOs. The NGOs are supposed to show transparency in the usage of the funds that they generate, but do face several issues when it comes to the management of the budget they need to spend on their organization.
·         The limited finance and management expertise in the NGOs is a great challenge to tackle. The NGOs unfortunately do not get that much proficient and capable management staff, which the other profit orientated organizations or the corporate business would have. The uncertainty of the NGOs basically is the main problem as people do not seek to make their professional careers in the NGOs at a higher level.

·         The volunteers are the main asset of any NGO which needs them as much as they require funds. The main issue with the volunteers is that they volunteer their services for a brief period of time. They leave after a few weeks or months as they have to return to their usual job/ studies or they get bored with doing the job. The challenge here for the NGOs is to keep them motivated so that they stay longer with the NGOs to help people, environment or wildlife in the specific region.
·         Project evaluation is a major challenge as the outcome or the report of this activity can be of interest for the current and also the potential donors. The NGOs need to submit the performance evaluation report of their current or the accomplished projects along with their proposals to the current and potential donors.

·         Accountability is also a major concern as the NGOs have the funds from the donors who want to know that how and where the NGOs is spending their funds. The need of mechanism to be used for the transparency in the usage of the funds is one of the toughest challenges that the NGOs face.
·         Managing and coping with the pressure faced during structural growth can be extremely challenging too for the organizations. They need to prepare themselves well before time in order to properly adjust with the structural growth.
